Texas Magazine Super Dentist Award

During 2007 2008 and 2009 Dr. Scalzitti earned recognition from her peers in the profession of dentistry.

The Super Dentist award is conducted through and published by Texas Monthly Magazine on an annual basis. Key Professional Media, is the firm that conducts the survey and tabulates data collected from thousands of Texas dentists.

Award Survey Question

Each dentist is polled with the simple question: "If you needed dental care, which dentist would you choose?"

Categories and licensed specialty areas include:

cosmetic
endodontist
general practice
oral and maxillofacial surgery
orthodontist
pediatric
periodontist
prosthodontist

The Research Process

Key Professional Media staff people interview and correspond with dental professionals to identify the top dentists in each specialty.

Research teams actively search for outstanding dentists to complement the statewide survey of dentists. The research team evaluates prospective candidates on indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement as a supplement to the balloting and blue ribbon panel review.

A good standing review is also conducted that focuses on the discipline record of each candidate and verifies that the dentist is active and in good standing.

Final Selection

The point totals from the ballot surveys, blue ribbon panels and the screening process are added to arrive at a final point score. Texas Super Dentists is published in a special advertising section in the November issue of TEXAS MONTHLY magazine.

Austin Monthly Top Dentist Award

Dr. Scalzitti earned an additional award from another independent rating firm that publishes survey and award announcements in the January issue of Austin Monthly.

Award Survey Questions

Similar to the award process used by Texas Monthly, thousands of Texas dental professionals are asked: "If you had a patient in need of a dentist, which dentist would you refer them to?"

Dentists and specialists are asked to take into consideration years of experience, continuing education, manner with patients, use of new techniques and technologies and of course physical results.

Participant Pool

The pool of dentists surveyed consists of all dentists listed with the American Dental Association as well as all dentists listed with their local dental societies, thus allowing virtually every dentist the opportunity to participate.

Data compilation and final tabulation similarly produces subsets of top scoring dental professionals within their practice or specialty area.

The highest scoring dentists and specialists are nominated and awarded the recognition of Top Dentist which is then published in Austin Monthly.
